Spend the day in downtown Hilo, bartering with the vendors at the Farmers Market, or window shop at the many fine merchants lining the bayfront.

Visit any one of several museums, such as the Pacific Tsunami Museum, and learn about the Tsunami capital of the world; Mokupapapa, to learn about the Northern Hawaiian Islands and our beautiful ocean, or the Lyman House, to learn about the missionaries and all the different cultures which make up the Hawai’i of today.

North of Hilo, hike through lush botanical gardens. Take a tour of Akaka Falls, a beautiful 20 minute hike through lush forest, taking you by two waterfalls.

Or hike down into the Valley of Kings, Waipio Valley, to a pristine black sand beach and lush tropical valley.
